This presentation will discuss the Motivational interviewing (MI) approach MI defined as an evidence-based collaborative, person-centered conversation style that strengthens a person’s own motivation for change and commitment to make a behavioral change. This approach is characterized by acceptance, empathy, and unconditional positive regard and, in turn, minimizes discord and fosters hope and optimism in clinical encounters.
